JOB OVERVIEW:
The fabrication artisan will safely use the workshop specialised equipment such as metal welding, gas welding, to build, maintain components for a variety of products and assemble finished products to aid YU aquaculture production technology.
KEY DUTIES:
- Ensure that then work shop weekly safety tool box talks are attended, conducted and documented.
- Adhere to permit to work, Personal protective equipment, Waste disposal and all YU site OHSE policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all weekly planned maintenance – production fabrication/welding requests are timely completed.
- Support the workshop technician to ensure that monthly workshop tools’ audits are timely completed and damaged/missing tools reported.
- Execute all CMMS welding/fabrication preventive maintenance tasks on feed platforms and barges are timely completed and corrective work orders reported.
- Develop strong & effective working relationships within YU production teams to ensure welding/fabrication aquaculture engineering technology works are successfully completed.
- Must carry out periodic ad hoc and preventive maintenance inspections on fabricated equipment to make sure that they are in proper working condition.
- Must support the workshop technician to have a proper record of all workshop activities and tools.
- Must have the competence ability to flexibly and efficiently act for the workshop technician.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Must have 1-year practical experience in fabrication and welding.
- Action and detail oriented, having a drive for success
- Ability to interpret engineering CAD prints. Knowledge in technical drawing is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, methods, and techniques preferably in a food manufacturing/ production environment
- Proficiency with metal fabrication and welding tools including shears, rollers, flame cutters, MIG/TIG/ Arc welding equipment and drill presses.
- Uganda Certificate of Education or General certificate in basic/general engineering skills.
- Competence in permit to work safety system. I.e., Hot works, confined space, Electrical tools and work at height
