About us:
Straight Talk Foundation (STF) is a Ugandan health communications National Non-Governmental
Organization that was founded in 1993 and operates nationally in Uganda. Its activities and interventions
aim at improving the sexual reproductive health and wellbeing of young people for adoption of healthy
behaviors in Uganda through advocacy, evidence driven communication and youth friendly service delivery.
With funding from the Freedom Fund, Straight Talk Foundation (STF) will scale up the “Empowering
Communities and Strengthening Child Protection” project under the Karamoja Hotspot Programme.
STF seeks to fill the following vacant positions to support the implementation of the program.
1. Project Officers (2)-Karamoja Hotspot Program; Duty station: Napak District.
2. Reporting Relationship: The Project Officers – Will work closely with the project coordinator to
initiate, plan and coordinate project activities.
Job Purpose:
The Project Officer will oversee the day-to-day field-level implementation, monitoring, and
partner coordination of the Karamoja Hotspot Program. The incumbent will be responsible for
executing multi-sectoral activities across target schools, health facilities, and communities to
reduce child exploitation (CEFMU, trafficking, modern slavery) while fostering youth economic
resilience and strengthening local government safety nets.
Key Responsibilities:
• Establish and Mentor School-Based “Early Warning” Systems
• Operationalise the “GARD Smart Gardens” & Vocational Integration
• Deploy the “UPSHIFT” Entrepreneurship Model for Survivor Cohorts
• Facilitate Phased Community Dialogues & Behavioural Change Sessions
• Coordinate Participatory Theatre & Duty-Bearer Accountability Events
• Revitalise Facility-Based Youth Corners and Mobile Outreaches
• Support Local Government Child Protection Committees & Case Management
• Prepare periodic work plans and reports. Maintain relationships with district authorities,
community leaders, CSOs, and parents
• Promote active participation of communities and stakeholders in project implementation

Academic Background, Experience and Person Specifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Public Health, Community
Development, or related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of active field experience implementing child protection, SRHR, or
community development programs, ideally within the Karamoja context
Technical Skills:
• Proven experience running community dialogue methodologies (familiarity with the Uganda
National Parenting Guidelines is a strong asset).
• Familiarity with youth innovation or livelihood models (experience with the UPSHIFT model is
highly desirable).
• Language and Culture: Fluency in Ngakarimojong is highly essential for effective community entry,
norm-shifting dialogues, and grassroots trust-building.
Mobility: Possession of a valid riding permit and willingness to ride a motorcycle long distances across
rugged terrain to remote villages.
