JOB TITLE: Night Cashier and Front Desk Officer

LOCATION: The Surgery, Naguru

REPORTS TO: Finance Manager / Practice Manager

WORK SCHEDULE: 3–4 nights per week (6:00 PM – 8:00 AM)

The Surgery, Naguru is a leading private healthcare facility committed to delivering exceptional medical care with compassion, precision, and integrity. We are seeking a highly trustworthy, customer-focused Night Cashier to serve as the face of our front desk during overnight hours.

The Role:

This is a front desk office role that combines cashiering, patient reception, and customer care. You will be the first and primary point of contact for patients arriving at night. You will handle payments, patient registration, inquiries, and ensure every person who walks in feels welcomed, respected, and professionally assisted – all while maintaining impeccable financial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

Cashiering & Finance:

  • Process all patient payments (cash, card, mobile money, insurance claims) accurately.
  • Issue receipts, manage petty cash, and reconcile the cash drawer per shift.
  • Prepare daily financial shift reports for the Finance Manager and Practice Manager.
  • Report any discrepancies, irregularities, or security concerns immediately.

Customer Care (Front Desk):

  • Warmly greet and attend to all patients, visitors, and emergency cases arriving during the night shift.
  • Register new patients, update demographic and insurance information, and direct them appropriately.
  • Answer phone calls and basic inquiries about services, wait times, and billing.
  • Handle distressed or anxious patients with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
  • Liaise between clinical staff (nurses, doctors, lab clerks on call) and patients regarding admission, discharge, or billing matters.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk area.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Cashier Experience: Mandatory – proven experience as a cashier.
  • Healthcare Experience: Preferred – previous experience in a hospital, clinic, or medical setting is an advantage.
  • Customer Care: Demonstrated ability to handle front desk or customer-facing roles (e.g., reception, hospitality, retail client service).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with billing software, MS Excel, and basic bookkeeping.

Working Hours & Conditions

  • Shift Pattern: 3 to 4 nights per week (that shall include weekends and public holidays at times)
  • Shift Timing: 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM (14‑hour overnight shift).
  • Training: Full training will be provided prior to deployment.

Compensation:

  • Salary: Fixed, competitive salary based on seniority and experience.
  • Benefits: To be discussed at interview (including night shift differential where applicable).

Important Notes:

  • Cashier experience is required; however, The Surgery reserves the right to review CVs of exceptional candidates without cashier experience.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.
