Logistics Supervisor

A Logistics Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the movement, storage, and distribution of goods to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. Their key roles and responsibilities typically include:

1. Planning and Coordinating Logistics Operations

  • Schedule and oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
  • Coordinate transportation activities to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Monitor logistics processes to meet operational requirements.

2. Inventory and Warehouse Management

  • Supervise inventory control activities and stock accuracy.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and organization of materials.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.

3. Team Supervision

  • Lead, supervise, and allocate tasks to logistics staff, drivers, and warehouse personnel.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching where necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to work schedules and productivity targets.

4. Transportation Management

  • Coordinate vehicle utilization, routing, and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance, and transportation costs.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations and company policies.

5. Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation for logistics activities.
  • Implement and monitor safe handling and storage practices.

6. Supplier and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with suppliers, transporters, and internal departments.
  • Resolve logistics-related issues affecting operations.
  • Support procurement and production teams in meeting supply requirements.

7. Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Track logistics performance indicators such as delivery timelines, inventory accuracy, and transportation costs.
  • Prepare operational reports and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.

8. Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate and resolve delays, stock variances, and delivery challenges.
  • Develop strategies to optimize logistics costs and service levels.
  • Support the implementation of new logistics systems and procedures.
Experience
Bachelors Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management
5 years Experience in a similar role
