TRANSPORT OFFICER (DRIVER) – 2
Reports to: Human Resource Business Partner
Role Overview:
• Manage and execute operational and preventive maintenance of the Centre’s vehicles for administrative functions in line with the Centres policies and national traffic regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, punctual transportation for staff and authorized persons, and execute errands promptly.
- Maintain daily vehicle log sheets, track mileage and fuel, and submit monthly monitoring reports.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks (tyres, oil, water, brakes) and ensure vehicle security/cleanliness.
- Strictly observe the road traffic laws of the Republic of Uganda.
- Provide general administrative support, including handling mail, filing, photocopying, and event setup.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Must possess an Advanced Level Certificate (A-Level) or its equivalent.
- Must hold a valid and clean Driver’s License for operating a public vehicle beyond Class B.
- Proven track record and experience as a professional driver.
- A Certificate in General Mechanical Engineering or
Defensive Driving is an added advantage.
Key Competencies:
- Thorough knowledge of safe national traffic rules, laws, and defensive driving.
- Excellent time management, interpersonal, and team-playing skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English with effective oral and written communication skills.
- A polite, professional disposition with the ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and flexibility to occasionally work over weekends/holidays.
