About the role:
We are seeking a motivated and detailed oriented People Operations Associate who will own end-to-end
HR processes and serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees. He/She will drive process improvements, ensure compliance, and deliver data-driven insights to enhance the employee experience.
This role requires a combination of operational excellence, strategic thinking, and a passion for building a people-centered culture.
Responsibilities:
1. HR Operations and Administration
- Own and optimize HR workflows, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across HRIS and documentation systems.
- Track and report on HR metrics (turnover, headcount, leave utilization) and provide actionable insights.
- Support payroll and benefits administration, monitor market trends, and assist in compensation benchmarking.
- Lead onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a smooth and engaging experience for new hires.
2. Employee Relations and Engagement
- Maintain confidentiality while handling complex employee relations matters (e.g., misconduct, disputes, dismissals).
- Mediate low-complexity conflicts and support wellness, recognition, and DEl initiatives.
- Conduct employee surveys, analyze feedback, and recommend actions to improve engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Partner with the People team to design and implement initiatives that foster motivation, inclusion, and belonging.
3. Talent Acquisition and Career Development
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for mid to senior-level roles, including job descriptions, postings, interview coordination, reference checks, and offer letters.
- Support managers and employees in performance management, career planning, and learning & development programs.
- Identify skill gaps and assist in designing learning initiatives to enhance individual and organizational capability.
4. Performance Management and HR Analytics
- Coordinate performance review cycles, including appraisal processes and goal tracking.
- Lead OKR audits and ensure adherence to internal performance standards.
- Analyze HR data to inform business decisions and support reporting requests with accuracy and autonomy.
5. Leadership Contribution
- Acts as a trusted HR business partner to team leads, providing guidance on people management, employee relations, and team development.
- Facilitates performance review cycles, coaches managers on feedback delivery, and ensures alignment with organizational goals.
- Identifies skill gaps across teams, scopes learning objectives, and proposes engaging training and development initiatives.
- Anticipates organizational needs during periods of change, supporting strategy execution, workforce planning, and change management initiatives.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in HR/People Operations, preferably in a fast-paced or high-growth environment.
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive employee matters.
- Demonstrated ability to drive HR process improvements and contribute to organizational culture initiatives.
- Strong understanding of the Uganda labor market and current HR compensation & benefits trends.
- Highly confidential, with the ability to handle sensitive information and employee situations considerately.
- Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work successfully in a high-activity, fast-paced environment.
- Capacity to develop, implement, and maintain basic HR structures, processes, and procedures.
Advantageous:
- Experience using advanced HRIS systems or analytics tools to generate reports and insights.
- Exposure to implementing employee engagement, wellness, or recognition programs in a corporate or fintech environment.
- Experience using Google Workspace tools (e.g., Google Forms, Sheets, Docs) to manage HR processes.
- Familiarity with HR process improvement, or organizational change initiatives.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, or startup environment.
- Knowledge of international HR best practices or labor standards beyond Uganda’s labor laws.
- Multilingual skills or experience working in a multicultural workforce.
