JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Purchaser
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Job Purpose
The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and ensuring the timely delivery of spare parts, accessories, and related supplies required by the business. The role ensures cost-effective purchasing, supplier relationship management, inventory optimization, and compliance with company procurement policies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Procurement and Sourcing
* Source and procure, spare parts, consumables, and related equipment in line with company requirements.
* Obtain quotations, analyze supplier offers, and negotiate favorable prices, terms, and delivery schedules.
* Prepare and process purchase orders and other procurement documentation.
* Monitor market trends and identify alternative suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and uninterrupted supply.
Supplier Management
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers.
* Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery timelines, pricing, and service levels.
* Resolve supplier-related issues and escalate critical concerns where necessary.
Inventory Management
* Work closely with the stores and sales teams to monitor stock levels and forecast procurement needs.
* Ensure timely replenishment of stock to avoid shortages and operational disruptions.
* Participate in stock counts and inventory reconciliation exercises.
Compliance and Reporting
* Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
* Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
* Prepare procurement reports, purchase analysis reports, and supplier performance reports.
* Support internal and external audits by providing procurement documentation as required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
* Professional qualification in Procurement (CIPS or equivalent) is an added advantage.
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement, preferably in heavy machinery, automotive, engineering, or construction equipment.
* Experience handling imports and international suppliers is desirable.

* Knowledge of procurement principles and inventory management.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
* High level of integrity and attention to detail.
