Job Purpose
To provide administrative and accounting support to the Finance Department by maintaining
accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring
compliance with company policies and financial procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Accounts Assistant shall be responsible for:
1. Receiving, verifying, and processing invoices, payments and other financial documents in
accordance with company procedures.
2. Timely preparation and posting of accounting entries into the accounting system
accurately and filing of supporting documentation.
3. Conducting regular bank and petty cash reconciliations, investigating any discrepancies
and ensuring proper accountability for all expenditures.
4. Management of accounts receivable and accounts payable and following up on
outstanding balances when required.
5. Support with timely filing of monthly statutory obligations.
6. Support with stock counts, stock reconciliation and management, asset verification and
maintaining of fixed asset register.
7. Support with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and
schedules.
8. Providing support during internal and external audits by preparing and availing required
financial records and documentation
9. Ensuring compliance with company financial policies, statutory requirements, and
accounting standards while perfor ming accounting duties and any other related duties
assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting option), or a
related field.
Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA is a must.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
Required Competencies
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures.
Proficiency in filing of PAYE, NSSF, and income tax
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly
Microsoft Excel.
Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
