Position: Accountant
Area: Kampala, Uganda
Department: Finance & Administration
Reporting To: Country Manager / Finance Director
JOB PURPOSE
The Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operations of ITO Global Logistics Uganda Ltd, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory requirements, effective cash flow management, and supporting the company’s operational and strategic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Financial reports.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and financial documentation.
- Prepare profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Monitor company expenses and ensure budget compliance
- Support management with financial analysis and reporting.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manage supplier payments and ensure timely settlement of invoices
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Reconcile customer and supplier
- Maintain accurate aging reports for debtors and creditors.
Banking & Cash Management
- Conduct bank reconciliations on a regular basis
- Monitor cash flow and ensure availability of operational funds
- Prepare payment vouchers and process transactions accurately.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Accounting
- Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in logistics, transport, or freight forwarding industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Timely submission of accurate financial reports.
- Compliance with all statutory obligations.
- Effective management of receivables and payables.
- Proper financial controls and cost management.
TAX & STATUTORY COMPLIANCE
- Ensure compliance with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) regulations.
- Prepare and file VAT, PAYE, NSSF, withholding tax, and other statutory returns on time.
- Support external audits and tax audits when required.
