
Job Summary
The role holder will support the delivery of efficient, controlled and client-focused Clearing, Central Cash, Posting and Validation services for Uganda, while helping to uphold service quality, operational risk standards, regulatory requirements and the Bank’s values.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support Clearing, Central Cash, Posting and Validation operations for the Bank.
- Process, validate, reconcile and monitor clearing transactions, customer cheques, electronic funds transfers and internal entries in line with Bank procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Support timely settlement of inward and outward clearing transactions, daily account reconciliations and review of exceptions or irregular cases.
- Contribute to process improvement, automation initiatives, service delivery and cost efficiency across Clearing and Posting and Validation activities.
- Identify, escalate and help resolve operational risk, conduct and compliance matters affecting the unit.
- Support stakeholder engagement with internal teams, auditors, regulators and banks represented in the clearing house.
- For manager-level opportunities, provide day-to-day leadership, oversight, team development and performance monitoring within the unit.
Skills And Experience
- Experience in banking operations, preferably within clearing, cash operations, posting, validation, reconciliation or transaction processing.
- Strong understanding of banking products, customer mandates, operational procedures and service standards.
- Good working knowledge of operational risk, governance, controls, compliance and regulatory expectations.
- Ability to manage priorities, resolve exceptions, support process improvements and deliver within agreed service levels.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration and customer service skills.
- For manager-level opportunities, leadership experience with the ability to guide, motivate, train and develop team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Professional qualifications in Banking, Risk Management, Accounting, Finance or Operations Management (e.g ACIB, Chartered Banker, ACCA, CPA, CIA or equivalent) are an added advantage.
- Experience in clearing operations, payments, cash management, reconciliation and banking operations is desirable.
