Too Good Yoghurt
Description

We’re Hiring: Commercial Director – Too Good Yogurt | Uganda

Too Good Yogurt, the flagship yogurt brand of Mujuni Ventures Ltd (MVL), is looking for an exceptional Commercial Director to lead our next phase of growth.

We are building a stronger, more commercially disciplined business with a clear ambition: to significantly expand our market reach, strengthen our distribution network, grow revenue sustainably and build a high-performing commercial team.

We are looking for a commercially minded leader who can turn strategy into execution and take ownership of the entire commercial engine.

The Opportunity

As Commercial Director, you will lead the company’s sales, distribution, customer development and commercial strategy, working closely with the CEO and other functional leaders to deliver sustainable and profitable growth.

This is not simply a sales management role.

We are looking for someone who understands how to build a scalable FMCG commercial organisation — from route-to-market strategy and distributor management to sales-force productivity, pricing, margins, collections, forecasting and market expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy

  • Develop and execute MVL’s commercial strategy in line with the company’s annual operating plan.
  • Translate company-level growth objectives into clear revenue, volume, distribution and profitability targets.
  • Identify new markets, channels, customers and growth opportunities.
  • Develop and continuously improve the company’s route-to-market model.

Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Take overall ownership of commercial revenue targets.
  • Build systems that consistently deliver sales growth rather than relying on individual salesperson performance.
  • Develop sales targets by territory, channel, product and salesperson.
  • Establish strong sales forecasting and pipeline management.
  • Monitor performance against targets and take corrective action quickly.

Distribution & Market Expansion

  • Expand Too Good Yogurt’s distribution footprint across Uganda and other strategic markets.
  • Strengthen relationships with distributors, wholesalers, retailers, supermarkets, institutions and other key customers.
  • Improve numeric and weighted distribution and ensure strong product availability.
  • Develop territory expansion plans based on market potential and commercial returns.

Commercial Excellence

  • Build a data-driven sales organisation with clear KPIs and accountability.
  • Monitor sales productivity, customer acquisition, retention, order frequency, average order value and collections.
  • Improve sales processes, reporting and field execution.
  • Establish a culture where commercial teams are accountable for both growth and profitability.

Pricing & Gross Margin

  • Work with Finance and Production to develop commercially sustainable pricing.
  • Monitor gross margins by SKU, customer and channel.
  • Ensure discounts, promotions and trade terms are commercially justified.
  • Balance volume growth with healthy margins and cash generation.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach and develop the commercial team.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and KPIs.
  • Build a strong performance culture across sales and distribution.
  • Identify capability gaps and ensure the team receives appropriate training and support.
  • Work with HR to ensure recruitment is based on capability and performance requirements.

Customer & Market Intelligence

  • Develop a deep understanding of customers, competitors and market dynamics.
  • Use market data to inform pricing, product positioning, promotions and expansion decisions.
  • Establish systems for capturing and acting on customer feedback.
  • Identify emerging consumer and market trends.

Cross-functional Leadership

  • Work closely with Finance, Marketing, Production, Logistics, Procurement and Quality Assurance.
  • Ensure commercial commitments are aligned with operational capacity.
  • Improve demand forecasting and coordination between sales and production.
  • Ensure growth does not come at the expense of cash flow, product quality or operational discipline.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a leader who has:

  • 8+ years of progressive commercial/sales experience, preferably in FMCG, food & beverage, dairy or another fast-moving consumer business.
  • Proven experience leading sales teams and delivering significant revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of FMCG distribution and route-to-market models.
  • Demonstrated experience managing distributors, wholesalers and modern trade.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding, including pricing, gross margin, trade spend and profitability.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder-management abilities.
  • Experience developing and managing commercial budgets.
  • A track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Strong execution discipline and the ability to operate in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment.

The Person We Want

Beyond qualifications and years of experience, we are looking for someone who is:

Commercially aggressive, but financially disciplined.

Data-driven, but highly practical.

Strategic, but obsessed with execution.

A leader who builds systems, not dependency on individuals.

You should be comfortable working in an environment where there are big ambitions, limited resources and significant opportunities to build.

Why Join Too Good Yogurt?

This is an opportunity to join a growing Ugandan food company at an important stage of its journey.

You will have the opportunity to shape the commercial organisation, build markets, develop people and directly influence the growth trajectory of the business and brand.

If you believe you have what it takes to build a high-performing FMCG commercial engine, we would love to hear from you.
