On behalf of our client, we are looking for skilled and experienced GARDENER & SWIMMING POOL ATTENDANT to join their team in Kampala, Uganda

Job Purpose

The Gardener & Pool Attendant will be responsible for maintaining the gardens, compound, swimming pool, and other outdoor areas of a private residence in a clean, safe, attractive, and well-maintained condition. The successful candidate should be reliable, hardworking, trustworthy, physically fit, and able to work independently while maintaining high standards.

Key Responsibilities

Gardening & Compound Maintenance

  • Maintain lawns, gardens, flowers, plants, trees, and landscaped areas.
  • Carry out regular watering, pruning, trimming, weeding, planting, and general garden maintenance.
  • Keep the compound, pathways, driveway, and outdoor areas clean and tidy.
  • Clear leaves, grass, litter, and other debris from the compound.
  • Identify and report pests, damaged plants, or other gardening concerns.
  • Ensure gardening tools and equipment are properly used, cleaned, and stored.
  • Assist with planting, landscaping, and improvement of outdoor areas as required.

Swimming Pool Maintenance

  • Clean and maintain the swimming pool regularly to ensure it remains clean and presentable.
  • Skim the pool surface and remove leaves, dirt, and other debris.
  • Brush and vacuum the pool as required.
  • Clean and maintain the pool deck and surrounding areas.
  • Monitor the pool’s cleanliness and water levels and report any concerns.
  • Carry out basic pool maintenance and cleaning procedures as required.
  • Safely handle and store pool-cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Report any leaks, damaged equipment, or other pool-related maintenance issues.

General Duties

  • Maintain outdoor furniture and poolside areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Assist with cleaning and preparing outdoor areas before and after gatherings or events.
  • Support with minor outdoor maintenance tasks where required.
  • Maintain proper care and storage of all tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Follow health, safety, and hygiene procedures at all times.
  • Respect the privacy, property, and confidentiality of the household.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the Private Client or House Manager.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Gardener, Pool Attendant, Groundskeeper, or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Practical experience in gardening and compound maintenance.
  • Previous experience cleaning or maintaining swimming pools is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of basic gardening tools and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of swimming-pool maintenance and chemical handling.
  • Physically fit and able to perform outdoor and manual work.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills.
