Impact Investment Fellow – WASH

Location: Kampala, Uganda
Type: Fellowship, 6 months (with the possibility to grow into a permanent role)
Starting date: 01st of September 2026.
Application Deadline: 23rd of August 2026
About Relevant
Relevant mobilises capital to address the blind spots through innovative financing and venture-building
solutions. In Uganda, we run a loan facility to close the financing gap for social enterprises operating in
displacement-affected communities by providing patient capital. We are now expanding into the WASH
(Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) sector and looking for an Impact Investment Fellow to help design, set up,
and roll out a new loan facility in this space — an ideal fit for a recent graduate looking to build their
professional experience.
Your responsibilities
WASH Loan Facility
● Support the design and set-up of a new loan facility in the WASH sector.
● Support the Project Manager with day-to-day tasks, including reporting, enterprise sourcing,
investment readiness, due diligence, and contracting.
● Support the monitoring of the entire portfolio’s financial performance.
● Contribute to all required technical and administrative tasks to ensure the loan facility’s operational
success.
● Support the programs team in any other area needed, such as but not limited to organising events
and supporting the overall growth and progress of relevant projects.
Note that roles may change over time to reflect the dynamic environment in which Relevant operates.
Qualifications and Competencies
Required
● High motivation and willingness to learn, with genuine curiosity about the WASH sector and small
business finance.
● Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
● Hands-on, entrepreneurial attitude with a high level of independence and ownership.
● Draws energy from solving problems rather than being told the answer.
● Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent
relevant experience).
● Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills.
Desirable
● Experience in the WASH sector, or a strong interest in it.
● Exposure to financial analysis, modelling, project management, or business development support.
● Experience mentoring, coaching, or otherwise working directly with small businesses or
entrepreneurs.
● Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial audiences, including investees
and partners.
What We Offer
This is a fellowship that allows a person to learn and quickly grow in a highly dynamic, fast-paced start-up
environment.
● Lunch at the office, an internet allowance, and transport allowance for the duration of the fellowship
● Access to a global network of social entrepreneurs and professionals in the financial innovation
space
● Hybrid work options with access to an office within a creative working environment at the Innovation
