Mastercard Foundation is hiring a Lead-Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship to contribute to the continuing design and implementation of Health as an economic sector, focusing on health innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives that empower young people, especially young women, to access dignified and fulfilling employment. This role offers a unique opportunity for experienced professionals in the global development sector, looking to increase their impact in health entrepreneurship careers across Africa.

Ways You Can Contribute
- Lead the design and execution of evidence-based interventions and partnerships aimed at advancing Health Entrepreneurship to enable young people (particularly young women) to find dignified work.
- Ensure the alignment of Health Entrepreneurship programs with roadmaps and strategies across the Foundation and global health priorities.
- Collaborate with platform and country teams to ensure connectedness, complementarity, and synergy across programs in health innovation.
- Build partnerships with external agencies globally and locally, as well as academia and the private sector, to identify scalable opportunities and enhance thought leadership in health innovation.
- Develop and implement a Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship framework, leveraging lessons from the Foundation’s programs in Africa and Canada.
- Explore synergies with other thematic teams such as access to finance and digital technology to drive impactful entrepreneurship solutions in the health sector.
- Contribute to building the Health Workforce Initiatives Team, specifically focusing on the Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship pillar of the roadmap.
- Work closely with colleagues across programs and country offices to ensure cohesion and integration in strategy design and program development.
- Represent Mastercard Foundation in meetings and events related to health innovation and entrepreneurship both internally and externally.
- Lead the development of a monitoring framework to assess program impact, share learning, and improve the design and implementation of entrepreneurship programs.
- Manage budgets and oversee the financial aspects of programs, ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s goals.
- Champion integrated program design, implementation, and learning, ensuring collaboration across functions like finance, communications, and impact teams.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders in the health sector, government, and NGOs, driving collective impact at scale.
- Lead and manage performance of direct and indirect reports, ensuring alignment with Mastercard Foundation’s values.
Who You Are
- MBA or Master’s in entrepreneurship, global development, education, public policy, or another related field.
- At least 15 years of senior-level experience in global organizations, with strong leadership in innovation, entrepreneurship, enterprise development, and public policy related to the health sector.
- Proven experience in leading health entrepreneurship interventions with a focus on innovation, youth empowerment, and scalable programs across Africa.
- Financial management experience, including the preparation and oversight of budgets, contracts, and program funding.
- Experience in public-private partnerships, particularly in the health sector and entrepreneurship development.
- Advanced expertise in developing and leading entrepreneurship efforts in Africa, with a focus on the health sector.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in French is an added advantage.
- A solution-oriented approach with demonstrated creativity, integrity, and resilience in entrepreneurial innovation.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to engage and inspire stakeholders, including government officials, health leaders, entrepreneurs, and business leaders.
- Professional maturity, sensitivity to cultural diversity, and impeccable integrity in line with the Foundation’s values.
