1. Background
Luigi Giussani Foundation (LGF) is an indigenous for impact organisation that has been at the forefront
of responding to educational challenges in Uganda through research and capacity building at all levels
of education. Based in Luzira, Kampala, LGF implements programs in the following thematic areas;
Teacher Professional Development, Life Skills and Values Enhancement, Foundational Learning and
School Culture, Leadership and Management. All these programs are delivered with emphasis on
Gender Transformative Education, Climate and Environment Education, Agency and Wellbeing,
Research and Learning, and Advocacy and Partnerships as cross-cutting issues. As part of its
commitment to strengthening organizational systems that promote accountability, performance, and
continuous learning, LGF seeks to recruit a dedicated People and Culture/Human Resource Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing talent acquisition, staff development,
performance management, and employee engagement to ensure an effective and motivated
workforce. This role requires a strategic thinker capable of fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion,
and accountability.
2.0 Job Summary
• Job title: People and Culture Manager
• Reports to: LGF Executive Director
• Duty Station: Luzira, Kampala
• Employment Type: Fulltime
3.0 Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of program staff, ensuring a transparent
and merit-based process.
• Manage employee contracts, benefits, and compensation structures in compliance with
regulatory standards
• Support career development and succession planning for key roles within the program.
• Establish and oversee a robust performance management system, including goal setting,
appraisals, and feedback mechanisms.
• Design and implement staff capacity-building initiatives, including training programs and
leadership development.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth among staff
• Address performance-related challenges and support managers in handling employee relations
matters
• Develop and implement employee engagement strategies to enhance motivation, productivity,
and retention

• Ensure adherence to HR legal requirements, organizational policies, and ethical labour practices
• Conduct regular HR audits to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring data security and compliance
4.0 Qualifications and Experience
• A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
• A master’s degree would be an added advantage
• At least (6) six years of progressive experience in HR management, preferably within the
development sector
• Strong knowledge of Uganda’s labour laws, HR policies, and best practices
• Experience in recruitment, performance management, and employee relations
• Ability to develop and implement HR strategies that promote inclusion, diversity, and staff well-
being
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
