Job Title: Procurement Officer
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Reports To: Procurement Manager / Operations Manager (or Acting)
Contract Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join our team in Kampala. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in procurement and a valid motorbike and vehicle license to facilitate movement and logistics coordination. Preference will be given to candidates with experience or familiarity in procuring electrical components or industrial supplies, especially in the renewable energy or manufacturing sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Source, negotiate, and procure goods and services from local suppliers in line with company policies.
Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials, tools, and components for operations and projects.
Visit suppliers and project sites using company motorbike for order follow-up, inspection, and coordination.
Maintain accurate procurement records, including supplier databases, price lists, and purchase orders.
Evaluate vendor performance, product quality, and delivery reliability.
Support inventory control by coordinating closely with stores and logistics teams.
Prepare and submit procurement reports.
Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and project-specific requirements.
Support the Finance team in verifying invoices and documentation for payment processing.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 2 years of professional procurement experience in a similar role
Valid Class A(1) and Class B driving license
Willingness to travel within Kampala and surrounding areas, including regular movement to Kirolo, Wakiso District
Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Attributes:
Experience with procurement of electrical components, tools, or technical supplies is highly desirable
Familiarity with renewable energy, manufacturing, or engineering industry supplies
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure
