NOB ADVERT: SOUS / SUSHI CHEF*
Location: Kampala | Type: Permanent
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous / Sushi Chef to join our culinary team at Tamarai Restaurant.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and present high-quality Sushi, Japanese & Asian-inspired dishes
- Supervise food preparation, portion control, plating, and presentation standards
- Support the Head Chef in leading, mentoring, and training the kitchen team
- Monitor food costs, maintain accurate stock records, and minimize waste
- Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards
- Conduct regular kitchen briefings and contribute to menu development and innovation
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ professional culinary experience as a Sous Chef or Sushi Chef in a reputable Restaurant.
- Strong expertise in sushi preparation and Asian cuisine
- Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts or Catering from a recognized institution
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to train and develop a diverse team
- Strong organizational skills and ability to perform under pressure
- Passion for culinary excellence, creativity, and consistency
