Job Role Definition
The Manager Finance and Accounting is responsible for overseeing the financial management, reporting, and compliance functions of the Institute and ensures effective financial planning, budgeting, and implementation of internal controls.
Critical Work Functions
Lead the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with department heads.
Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
Develop, implement, and monitor internal control systems to safeguard financial assets.
Ensure cost control and efficiency in resource allocation.
Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Maintain the general ledger and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Ensure compliance with all tax laws, statutory regulations, and financial reporting requirements. Manage timely payments of statutory obligations ie NSSF, Payee etc.
Liaise with Internal and external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies, ensuring timely payments and adherence to local and international financial regulations.
Conduct periodic risk assessments and ensure mitigation strategies are in place.
Manage cash flow to ensure the organization has adequate liquidity to meet its obligations.
Oversee banking relationships and optimize investment and financing options.
Timely collections from the Institute’s debtors, monitor debt obligations to creditors and fina and insights to senior management and the Board of Directors.

Work Experience
Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Academic qualification
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CFA is required.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and local tax regulations.
Experience with financial management systems and accounting software (ie Tally and QuickBooks).
