Faculty of Law
Position: Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Law (1 Position) Ext AD 3/07/2026
Duty Station: UMU Main Campus Reports to: Dean, Faculty of Low
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- The candidate should have a PhD in a relevant field from a recog nized institution.
- S/he should have Master of Laws in either Commercial anc corporate Law, Business Law, Environmental Law and Natural Resources, Alternative Dispute Resolution or International Law from a recognized institution.
- S/he should have a Bachelor of Laws from a recognized institu-tion.
- S/he should have a minimum of four (4) years teaching experience and at least four. (4) publications
- S/he should have evidence of scholarship and research experience in the area
- S/he should have evidence of engagements and recognition with the professional and other communities.
Position: Clinical Legal Officer, (1 Position) Ext AD 4/07/2026
Duty Station: UMU Main Campus Reports to: Dean, Faculty of Low
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- The applicant must possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) degree from a recognized institution.
- S/he should have a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from a recognized institution (such as the Law Development Centre in Uganda).
- S/he must be an enrolled advocate of the High Court with a valid practicing certificate.
Minimum of 1-year experience in Civil Society or Legal Practice. - Experience supervising law students in moot courts, legal aid clinics, internships, or community legal outreach programs.
- Possession of a Master’s degree in Law or a related field and training in Clinical Legal Education will also be an added advantage.
Skills Required
- Strong Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Outreach Skills
Excellent research and report writing skills - Project writing and fund-raising skills
Accountability Profile
i. Organize Legal Aid services including litigation, ADR, follow ups and referrals.
ii. Develop and strengthen strategic partnerships with key stakehold-ers.
ili. Prepare periodic technical and activity reports.
iv. Organize outreach activities including legal iteracy and rights advocacy with stakeholders and Civil Society Organizations aligned with the university’s mandate.
v. Supervise and mentor law students during legal gid, internship, moot court, mediation, and community outreach activities. vi. Guide students in client interviewing, legal counseling, legal research, legal drafting, and case analysis.
vil. Assist in developing practical legal training materials and clinical learning modules.
vili. Assess and monitor students’ performance in clinical legal pro-grams.
Position: Tutorial Teaching Assistant (1 Position) Ext AD 5/07/2026

Academic Qualifications and Experience
- The candidate should possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) degree at least a Second-Class Upper Division or equivalent from a recog nized institution
Enrollment in or completion of a Master of Laws program in the relevant discipline is often an added advantage and may be required by some universities.

Position: Students Affairs Officer (1 Position) Ext AD 6/07/2026
Duty Station: UMU Ngetta Campus
Repons to Pirector, Ngetta Campus & Dean of Students
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Scienc-es, Education, and any other Humanities or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- S/he should have a minimum of at least 2 (two years working experience in a higher institution of learning.
- She should have strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience in students” leadership, counseling, or working with youth.
- She should be of high integrity and ethical conduct.
Accountability Profile
As Students’ Affairs’ Officer, the accountability profile will include but not limited to:
i. Pastoral Care and Support: Provide mentorship and support for students’ social, emotional and academic well-being. This will include guiding new students, fostering a positive atmosphere and managing community life within the hostels.
il. Work closely with the Director of the Campus in implementing and monitoring systems and procedures to improve students’ welfare at the Campus.
Discipline and Rule Enforcement: Responsible for enforcing hostel rules and regulations, ensuring order, and addressing student misbehaviours.
iv. Administrative and Facilities Management: Responsible for allocat ng rooms, maintaining room inventories, managing maintenance tasks (e.g., electrical, plumbing repairs), and supervising all clean-
v. Maintenance & Cleaning: General cleanliness of the campus environment, offices, classrooms and halls of residence, their surroundings and report any damaged, missing, or broken property. vi. Handling career guidance and organising orientation programmes on campus.
vil. Managing the food and beverage provision for staff and students. vüi. Supervising catering activities.
ix. Planning menus in consultation with Chef.
x. Recruitment and training of Kitchen staff in consultation with the Director, Human Resources.

ICT Department
Position: ICT Assistant (1 Position) 7/07/2026)
Reports to: Head ICT
Duty Station: Mbale Campus
Job Purpose:
The ICT Assistant will take proper care and stewardship of designated
ICT lab facilities (computers, projectors, smart boards etc.) which are distant from the central ICT office. S/he will be responsible for providing support to students and other users of the designated ICT labs.
The role is essential for preventing theft or misuse, better availability. security, reliable operation, and optimal use of lab facilities.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- The candidate should have at least a Diploma in Information Technology from a recognized / accredited institution of higher learning.
- S/he should have at least one year’s experience working in a reputable organization in a similar role.
- She should have the ability to quickly learn other software used for teaching, such as accounting software, video editing software etc.
- S/he should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- She should be able to work beyond conventional working hours and on weekends.
Accountability Profile:
i. To provide operational and technical support for ICT lab facilities. il. Under the supervision of the Network Administrator (and sometimes Systems Administrator), install equipment & software required in the Ilab.
ili. To arrange for the required servicing and repair of ICT Lab equipment.
iv. To perform routine audits on systems and software.
V. To answer user queries relating to the use of the ICT Lab vi. To document the configuration of lab equipment and any changes.
vii. To ensure optimum operation of the ICT Lab facilities. vili. To ensure the efficient flow of information between the Lab owner department and the ICT technical team leaders.
ix. Any other duties assigned by the supervisor that may be required from time to time for the smooth running of activities at UMU.
