Job Title: Asset Care Technician
About UBL
Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) packaging involves activities pertaining to bottling of beer and RTD products. UBL products include a range of lagers, stouts and RTD. Use of SAP as CMMS. Ensure products produced are of high quality. Work in a safe and hygienic environment
About The Role
To operate, maintain, repair and optimize plant and all associated devices in order to improve plant reliability, availability, quality and performance rate.
Complexity
- . Occasionally required to work long hours.
- Highly complex equipment mechanically and electrically.
- Work closely with the production team and fellow technicians.
- Be on call to handle emergency breakdowns.
- Coordination with OEMs.

Packaging Engineer, Asset Care Manager, Packaging Manager, Asset Care Technicians, Asset Care Planner and Technical Operators.

- Has experience of working within the Performance Management framework involving measurable goals and Tier Review Meeting Structure.

Key Accountabilities
Optimize the Production process:
- Interpret and support implement shift production plan.
- Optimize consumption of production resources.
- Measure, record, trend and analyse production performance attributes.
- Initiate corrective action for none-favourable trends.
- Support the shift to improve quality.
- Facilitate problem solving on the shift.
Maintenance
- Complete scheduled maintenance tasks (both running and none running tasks).
- Carry out breakdown maintenance tasks.
- Manage SAP CMMS tasks:
- TASK notifications
- ZPMS
- ZPMR
- ZPMM.
- Prepare for maintenance tasks.
- Apply problem solving techniques (5why DMAIC, RCPS) to find problem root causes.
- Initiate continuous improvement activities.
- Apply maintenance system processes.
- Locate plant, spares, equipment, and all associated documents.
- Demonstrate running assigned machine at established rating.
- Demonstrate proper start-up and shutdown of machines.
- Demonstrate production start-up and shut down preparations.
- Spares validation, restocking and control
- AM Supervision and TO coaching.
- Developing OPLs and SOPs
- Conducting RCM and FMECA
- Manage cost and downtime-MTTR and MTBF
- Implement machine inspections (TEBWA)
Manage EHS
- Align with PPE policies and procedures.
- Maintain good personal hygiene.
- Maintain good housekeeping/5S in area of operation.
- Maintain the hygiene for both process, personnel and work area to standard.
- Ensure 5S is maintained in the workplace.
- Implement LOTO.
- Raise and close SIRCS
Qualifications And Experience
Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- Computer literate including a proven understanding of SAP.
- 1 year experience of shift working in a production team in an FMCG environment.
- Proficient to understand the functions and working of machines including planned maintenance and lubrication at basic level
- Knowledge of process control and operational excellence techniques.
- Knowledge of risk standards (Quality H&S Environment).
