Location: Kampala, Uganda

About the Role

INSTAREMIT Ltd is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to support the Finance Department in managing partner account reconciliations, transaction postings, intercompany accounting, and financial control processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely closure of financial records while maintaining strong internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Reconcile all inbound partner accounts within QuickBooks.

Match partner balances against system records and supporting schedules.

Identify, investigate, and resolve reconciliation variances.

Ensure timely closure of all inbound partner accounts.

Post inbound partner transactions into QuickBooks accurately and on time.

Prepare journals and supporting schedules for financial postings.

Ensure all financial entries are complete, accurate, and properly classified.

Manage the financial records of INSTAREMIT Ltd, including bank accounts, petty cash, and prepayment accounts.

Record and maintain accurate intercompany transactions between INSTAREMIT Ltd and affiliated entities.

Reconcile and close all accounts within established reporting timelines.

Perform financial control checks, including running balance reviews, top-up checks, double-entry validations, reversal checks, and cancelled transaction reviews.

Identify discrepancies and ensure timely resolution to maintain data integrity.

Support month-end financial reporting and other finance-related activities as assigned.

Carry out any other duties or special assignments assigned by the Head of Finance or the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

At least 2–3 years’ experience in accounting, finance, reconciliation, or financial operations.

CPA(U) Level II or higher is required.

Experience working in a bank, money transfer operator (MTO), foreign exchange bureau, or other regulated financial institution is mandatory.

Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

Experience in account reconciliations, journal postings, financial reporting, and intercompany accounting is an added advantage.
