Job Title: Manager – Commercial Planning   

Reports to: Senior Manager – Commercial Planning

Main Job Functions:

Responsible for commercial Planning and exploitiation of opprtunities to grow revenues and non-financial Business targets which involves:

  • Analyze market trends, customer behavior, services portfolio, and pricing models to identify revenue opportunities.
  • Collaborate with sales and network operations teams to align revenue goals with infrastructure capacity, service quality, and customer expectations.
  • Monitor and adjust revenue forecasts based on technological advancements (e.g., 5G adoption), regulatory changes (e.g., spectrum allocation), and competitive pressures in the telecom market.
  • Evaluate portfolio performance using metrics like average revenue per user (ARPU), customer retention rates, return on investment (ROI), or network utilization.
  • Leverage analytics and market intelligence to monitor portfolio performance and adapt to shifts in demand, such as increased need for low-latency networks or high-speed connectivity solutions.
  • Ensure revenue planning and portfolio decisions support the company’s mission, whether it’s expanding network coverage, enhancing service quality, or pioneering next-generation telecom technologies.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities. Assess the impact of pricing, promotions, and market dynamics, providing data-driven insights to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategy.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Marketing, Sales, and FinTech teams to align strategies. Present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders for informed decision-making.
  • Drive quality insights and next level analysis to enhance decision-making.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, setting clear goals and fostering a high-performance, data-driven culture through coaching and feedback. 

Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Economics
  • A Postgraduate qualitification in analytics or project management is an added advantage
  • Proficient with MS Office application especially Excel and Power Point
  • Proficiency in data modeling, analytics and visualisation tools e.g SQL, Python, R, Microsoft Power BI, Tableu e.t.c 
  •  

Work Experience 

  • 5 years’ experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience in business analysis, pricing, financial modelling and product evaluation
  • Experience in Business Intelligence for telecommunications is desirable

Experience in hands-on financial modelling

  • Experience in advanced analytics tools and techniques

 

Skills / physical competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in Power BI, SQL, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel modeling.
  • Solid understanding of telecom industry KPIs, revenue streams, and operational metrics.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills to translate data insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Proven ability to work with large datasets and simplify complex data for decision-making.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and results-driven approach.
  • Experience in financial modeling, business analytics, and performance reporting.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage teams and drive strategic initiatives.
