Job purpose:
The Dispatch Supervisor leads and manages all dispatch, cold room and delivery operations at Kigunga Abattoir, ensuring customer orders are picked accurately, loaded on time, dispatched safely, documented correctly and delivered in compliance with company SOPs, quality standards and customer expectations. Accountable for OTIF, inventory accuracy, cold chain compliance, labour productivity and operational discipline. The position holder is expected to follow the set rules, regulations and guidelines of BPUL while ensuring the accomplishment of goals and targets given by Management.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatch Operations
- Plan and supervise all daily dispatch activities.
- Ensure customer orders are picked accurately and completely.
- Ensure loading starts and finishes according to schedule.
- Ensure trucks leave site on time.
Cold room management
- Manage stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO), temperature monitoring, space utilization, housekeeping and stock movements.
Delivery Operations
- Manage delivery clerks, truck departures, PODs and customer delivery issues.
Inventory Control
- Ensure daily reconciliation, variance investigation, and accurate ERP transactions
Team Leadership
- Manage staffing, shifts, attendance, coaching, performance and discipline.
Health, Safety & Food Safety
- Ensure GMP, HACCP, PPE and cold chain compliance.
Productivity Improvement
- Improve loading speed, labour productivity and dispatch efficiency.
Customer Service
- Handle urgent orders and resolve customer issues promptly.
Reporting
- Submit daily dispatch, stock, attendance, OTIF and safety reports.
Carry out any other duties as requested by the Supervisor
Education:
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations or Business Administration.
or related field.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum Experience:
- 3–5 years’ experience in warehouse/dispatch operations.
- Experience supervising large operational teams.
- ERP and Microsoft Excel proficiency.
