Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs 2026/2027

Background 

The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) invites suitably qualified students who are nationals of the East African Community (EAC) Partner States to apply for the EAC Student Mobility Scholarship Scheme (EAC-SMS) for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The Inter-University Council for East Africa invites qualified nationals of EAC Partner States to apply for 197 slots (Diploma, Bachelor, Master’s and PhD) scholarships across 28 partner universities in 6 EAC countries.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is open to nationals of EAC Partner States who meet the following criteria. Meet them all and you’re ready to apply.

• 01Be a national and resident of an EAC Partner State (national ID / passport / birth certificate required).
• 02Apply to an eligible programme at a university in a country other than your own.
• 03Excellent academic performance per the host programme’s entry requirements.
• 04Upper Second-Class Honours, Distinction or equivalent for Master’s and PhD applicants.
• 05Age below 35 for Master’s; below 45 for PhD at the time of application.
• 06Work experience is an added advantage for PhD applicants.
