Job Summary: The position holder will support community-based clinical and immunological research activities for the VacICoP (Marburg Correlates of Protection) project. The role involves participant recruitment, informed consent, biological sample collection and handling, longitudinal follow-up, and high-quality data capture, ensuring strict compliance with approved protocols, GCP/GCLP standards, and ethical requirement

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support identification, screening, enrolment, and retention of study participants;
  • Conduct informed consent and maintain ethical engagement with communities;
  • Coordinate field activities with district health and security authorities;
  • Support collection, labelling, temporary storage, and transport of clinical samples under cold chain conditions;
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of CRFs and electronic data capture tools;
  • Support participant follow-up to minimise loss to follow-up;
  • Adhere to biosafety, infection prevention, and PPE protocols;
  • Participate in community engagement and trust-building activities;and
  • Promptly report adverse events and protocol deviations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related or biological sciences field;
  • Experience in community-based clinical or epidemiological research;
  • Demonstrated competence in participant engagement and sample collection;
  • Valid certification in GCP, GCLP, and Human Subjects Protection (within the last two years);
  • Experience working within Ministry of Health or district-level structures;
  • Strong organisational, communication, and documentation skills;
  • Willingness to travel and work across multiple field sites; and
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office
