Job Title: FTTx Support Engineer
Job Summary
Responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and configuring ZTE and Huawei ONUs/OLTs to ensure high-quality Fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) service delivery for enterprise and residential clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting & Fault Management: Diagnose and resolve GPON network faults (ONT offline, fiber cuts, high attenuation, OLT port failure, slow speeds or “No Internet” scenarios) Troubleshoot complex data issues and conduct Root Cause Analysis for network outages anc degrading performance.
- System Maintenance: Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on ZTE and Huawei OLTs.
- Provisioning & Configuration: Configure OLTs, ONT profiles, VLANs, and Service Ports using CLI or NMS (Huawei NCE, ZTE ZENIC ONE).
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor network traffic, bandwidth distribution, and QoS parameters to ensure SLA compliance.
- Field Support Coordination: Work with field technicians to localize faults.
- Upgrades & Migration: Execute software upgrades, patch installation, and hardware migrations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of OLT/ONT configurations,generate weekly reports and perform data consistency checks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in GPON/FTTH network operations and maintenance, specifically with ZTE and Huawei platforms.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficient in FTTH architecture, GPON protocols, VLANs, PPPoE,
and DHCP. - Troubleshooting: Expert knowledge in CLI commands for Huawei and ZTE for diagnosing
ONT status, signal levels, and alarms.
Key Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in network troubleshooting.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle on-call shifts.
Good communication skills to interface with customers and technical teams.
