How can you make a difference? 

Under the overall direction and guidance of the Chief of Field Office, Moroto the IM Specialist (Nutrition) will be responsible for ensuring IM processes effectively contribute to a well-coordinated, strategic, adequate, coherent, and effective response by stakeholders. In their effort to enable an efficient and effective response to the humanitarian crisis, the IM Specialist (Nutrition) is responsible for leading and managing the collection, analysis and sharing of information that is essential for the Uganda Country Office and Moroto Field Office to make informed, evidence-based, strategic decisions.

The post holder is responsible for managing and coordinating the information management function; whose main tasks and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Create and implement an IM strategy, a data collection, and an analysis plan that consider the information needs of stakeholders and are compliant with standards and protocols for ethical data and information management,
  • Coordinate overall data quality assurance to ensure data accuracy, validity, completeness, consistency and timeliness.
  • Conduct data processing including organizing, cleaning, triangulating, evaluating and validating the data,
  • Contribute to the preparation and update of information material as required by sections (Fact Sheets, backgrounders, data tables, etc.)
  • Develop infographics, dashboards including maps, to support UNICEF’s programming and evidence generation.
  • Implement regular secondary data reviews and primary data collection including designing questionnaires using appropriate tools,
  • Maintain and ensure the accessibility of a common and shared secure storage system,
  • Actively engage with other IMs through relevant IMWGs and OCHA.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify information gaps at national and sub-national levels, agree and implement ways to bridge those gaps by providing technical advice and support to partners,
  • Collaborate closely with the ICT Team on implementing innovative solutions for data collection and dissemination (using AI, mobile phones and other tools).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Information Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Social Science, GIS, Information Technologies and or another subject area relevant to Information Management.
  • Work Experience: At least 5 years of relevant work experience in information management, data management, geographical information systems, assessments, situation analysis and/or PM&E with the UN and/or NGO is required.
  • Skills: Strong information management skills in a professional context, Data Planning, Data Analytics, Database Management, Information Systems, Assessment Methodologies, Infographics, GIS.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.

Desirables: 

  • Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language
  • Humanitarian context, humanitarian coordination system
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
