The Knowledge Sharing Manager leads Adara’s Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) knowledge sharing function, helping ensure that evidence, learning, innovation and practical experience generated through our MNCH programmes are translated into actionable knowledge that improves programmes, strengthens systems, extends Adara’s reach, and influences policy and practice beyond Adara.

This role is responsible for driving a strategic, evidence-informed and impact-focused approach to knowledge sharing, and works closely with programme, clinical, research, monitoring, evaluation and learning (RMEL), and communications teams to embed knowledge sharing into organisational processes and practices and external stakeholder engagement.
Job requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A tertiary qualification in Public/Global Health, Health Communications, Knowledge Management, International Development or related field. A clinical background is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in knowledge sharing, programme learning, health communications, RMEL, quality improvement, public health or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience developing high-quality technical and knowledge products for diverse audiences.
  • Experience working in international development and/or the health sector, preferably in low-resource settings.
  • Experience supporting learning, evidence use, quality improvement or adaptive programming processes.
  • Experience engaging with government, academic institutions, professional bodies or development partners.
  • Experience coordinating dissemination and external engagement activities.
  • Familiarity with digital knowledge systems, online learning approaches or knowledge repositories is an advantage.
  • Experience contributing to research dissemination, publications or conference presentations is desirable.

  • Strong understanding of maternal and newborn health systems and/or quality of care approaches in low-resource settings.

  • Ability to work strategically while also supporting practical implementation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams.
  • Curious, proactive and solutions-oriented, with a strong learning mindset.
  • Strong alignment with Adara’s values and commitment to equity, locally led approaches and improving outcomes for women, newborns and children.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital content, design or learning tools.
  • Willingness to undergo relevant safeguarding and police checks as required.
Job responsibilities
1. Knowledge Sharing Leadership and Planning

  • Support the development and implementation of Adara’s organisational Knowledge Sharing Strategy, with a specific focus on MNCH.
  • Working closely with the Director of MNCH, lead the operationalisation of knowledge sharing approaches across AdaraNewborn programmes and initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Director of Impact, Director of MNCH and RMEL teams to embed knowledge sharing within programme design, quality improvement, RMEL systems and adaptive management processes.
  • Strengthen organisational approaches to capturing, synthesising and using learning from programme implementation, research, quality improvement and data.
  • Working with the Director of Impact, help define and strengthen how Adara measures the reach, uptake and influence of its knowledge sharing work.

2. Development of High-Quality Knowledge Products and Learning Resources

  • Identify priority learning, innovations, tools, models and evidence emerging from the AdaraNewborn programme that have potential for wider application, replication or influence.
  • Translate complex technical and programme information into practical, accessible and engaging content for different audiences.
  • Lead the development of high-quality, evidence-informed and audience-appropriate knowledge products, including:
    • Clinical tools, guidelines and job aids
    • Learning briefs, case studies and success stories
    • Training and mentorship materials
    • Conference abstracts, posters and presentations
    • Policy and technical briefs
    • Journal articles and publications
    • Multimedia and digital learning content
  • Ensure knowledge products reflect strong technical quality, contextual relevance and practical applicability.
  • Coordinate review, quality assurance and updating processes for MNCH knowledge products and learning materials.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and management of Adara’s Knowledge Hub and broader digital knowledge systems.

3. Knowledge Dissemination, Learning and Influence

  • Lead and coordinate dissemination strategies to ensure Adara’s knowledge products reach relevant target audiences, including promoting and supporting the active use of evidence and learning in programme      decision-making, quality improvement processes, and policy/practice change
  • Monitor and analyse the reach, engagement, uptake and influence of knowledge sharing activities and products.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen Adara’s contribution to sector learning, policy dialogue and systems strengthening.
  • Support internal knowledge sharing and learning through systematic capture, documentation and synthesis of programme learning, and the effective sharing of insights across teams.

4. Partnerships, Collaboration and External Engagement

  • In close collaboration with the Director of MNCH, build and maintain strong relationships with government, academic, clinical and implementing partners to support collaborative learning and knowledge exchange.
  • Represent or support Adara representation in relevant MNCH learning forums, conferences and sector engagement platforms.
  • Develop and strengthen partnerships that enable evidence generation, implementation learning and dissemination.
  • Work closely with Communications and Partnerships teams to ensure alignment between knowledge sharing, advocacy, communications and external engagement.
  • Support efforts to position Adara as a trusted contributor to maternal and newborn health learning and quality improvement in Uganda and beyond.
  • Contribute to strengthening locally led and collaborative approaches to knowledge generation and dissemination.

5. Other Duties

  • Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the Adara leadership that are consistent with the role and further the objectives of Adara Development.
