French Embassy in Uganda
The Cultural Cooperation and Action Service (SCAC) of the French Embassy in Uganda is recruiting a mission officer in charge of promoting French higher education in Uganda and in general support of the SCAC.
Description of the position :
Placed under the direct authority of the Officer of Educational and Cultural Cooperation and the COCAC, the mission manager will have the functions of:
1/ Component “Promotion of French higher education in Uganda”:
Management of the two locations of Campus France (the Campus France Espace hosted within the Alliance Française de Kampala (AFK) and its branch located at the University of Makerere) and implementation of all related activities (promotion of French higher education, reception and advice to students during the permanences, animation of the platform “France Alumni-Uganda”, organization of events, etc.).
MAIN ACTIVITIES
– Enhanced visibility and volume of activities of the Espace Campus France-Uganda, ensuring in particular a proportional and effective presence on the 2 sites (the Alliance Française de Kampala and the University of Makerere);
– Reception, information and support for students considering following a course of study in France (information on the proposed courses, editorial advice – CV, cover letter, writing of DAP files, etc.);
– Advice to applicants for departure and/or scholarship holders when preparing their files and/or before their start-up (sensitization and preparation sessions for departure, visa information, etc.)
– Participation in the selection of applicants for a scholarship;
– Preparation of practical sheets, FAQs and other documentation for students;
– Animation of information meetings in Ugandan institutions, high schools of excellence and universities;
– Monitoring the mobility of students who have benefited from a scholarship;
– Participation in workshops / webinars punctually set up by Campus France Paris and French higher education institutions;
– Up-to-date maintenance of databases listing all alumni (former students and trainees) passed through France;
– Management and animation of the platform “France Alumni Uganda”
– Organization of events and visits to promote studies in France (within high schools and universities of the country, for the network of alumnis, etc.)
2/ General support to the SCAC component:
Within the embassy team and in support of the 4 agents who compose it, the mission officer will be in charge of the follow-up of the actors of the Francophonie (French club, universities, AFK, APFO, etc.) and the execution over the water of the annual programming (scholarships, missions and invitations, etc.). He/she may also be called on an ad hoc basis to perform other tasks, in relation to his/her level of qualification and within the scope of the SCAC’s portfolio of activities.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
– Follow-up of university cooperation and research partnerships (in liaison with the Head of Mission for Educational and Cultural Cooperation);
– Follow-up of the language assistant program (program promotion, selection of candidates, follow-up of files and preparation at the start) in support of the educational and cultural cooperation officer.
– Follow-up of actions related to La Francophonie and the promotion of French culture (month of La Francophonie, activities of French clubs, promotion of French in schools) in support of the head of educational and cultural cooperation;
– Over-the-air execution of the annual programming on CROCUS (in particular scholarships + exchange of expertise) on the programs 185 “Cultural diplomacy and influence” and 209 “Solidarity with development countries”;
– Support for the preparation and implementation of various event activities (e.g. “Geopolitics of Kampala”, activities related to the Alliance française and the French International School of Kampala, etc.);
– Complete any other tasks related to its level of qualification and within the boundaries of the SCAC’s business portfolio, in support of the CACS team.
– Drafting and updating of fact sheets on the Ugandan education system (CurieX)

Skills required
- Excellent command of the English language (level C1) and the French language (level C1);
- Knowledge of the functioning of French higher education (ideally having studied in France or in the French system)
- Excellent knowledge of the Ugandan education system;
- Master languages, communication, development cooperation, international relations, humanities and social sciences or any other relevant course for the position
- Ability to adapt and organize, ease to express yourself in public, sense of human relations, dynamism, administrative rigour, budgetary management
Diploma required :
Bachelor or Master (Master languages, communication, development cooperation, international relations, humanities and social sciences or any other relevant course for the position).
Duration :
Six-month trial period, one-year CDD under the status of renewable local law officer.
Contract start date : August 2026
RémunérationCompensation: The CCAS will pay the incumbent of the position a monthly salary (amount communicated on request)
