Job Summary:   We are looking for a motivated and capable Mobility Finance Operation Manager to support our business growth

 

Job Purpose

To establish, develop and scale the Mobility Finance business (motorcycle hire-purchase business) operations in Uganda, based on the operational experience of Mobility Finance business in Kenya, Ugandan market situation, and the direction from the Mobility Finance Division HQ in Japan. The Mobility Finance Business Operation Manager will analyse the motorcycle hire-purchase and financing market including the analysis for the customers, competitors, dealers, distributors, EV motorcycle players and any other related stakeholders, hire and train the relevant staff to operate Mobility Finance business and ensure achievement of the KPIs (e.g. sales target, default rate target, repossession rate target). This role is expected to play a key leadership role in the long-term growth and expansion of Mobility Finance business in Uganda as the business scales. This role requires a highly self-driven individual capable of leading business operations with a high level of ownership.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead the Mobility Finance operation team, ensuring alignment with WASSHA’s vision and mission, as well as the direction from the Mobility Finance Division HQ in Japan.
  • Develop and execute strategies for the development of Mobility Finance business in Uganda.

Commercial Strategy and Revenue growth:

  • Drive revenue and profit growth through Mobility Finance business development in Uganda.
  • Propose and implement revenue and profit growth initiatives based on the analysis of the market.

Execution of Daily Operation:

  • Lead and monitor daily Mobility Finance business operations to ensure efficient execution, service quality, and achievement of operational KPIs.
  • Provide necessary operational support to ensure smooth and consistent daily business operations.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work collaboratively with the WASSHA Uganda EaaS business and corporate team, other countries’ Mobility Finance business team, the global corporate functions in Japan and other countries and Mobility Finance Division HQ in Japan to leverage WASSHA’s assets for the Mobility Finance business development in Uganda.
  • Hire and train necessary staff for the Mobility Finance business development in Uganda.

Customer Engagement:

  • Engage with and analyze end-users to fulfill their needs and provide solutions to their challenges.
  • Focus on solving customer pain points and expanding essential solutions.

Risk Management

  • Monitor portfolio performance, repayment trends, and repossession activities to maintain healthy portfolio quality and sustainable business growth.
  • Lead collection and recovery actions to maintain strong repayment performance and portfolio quality.
  • Analyze risks associated with the Mobility Finance business development and ensure alignment with regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure the Mobility Finance business activities comply with WASSHA policies and legal standards locally and globally.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Minimum level of academic and professional qualification required to perform effectively in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Strategic Management or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in project management, partnerships, or innovation (e.g., PMP, Lean Start­up) are an advantage.

Minimum level of experience required to perform effectively in the role:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in managerial role (e.g. General Manager, Sales Manager, Operation Manager).

Preferred qualifications to perform effectively in the role:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in motorcycle financing or hire-purchase in emerging markets in Africa.
  • Experience in bike taxi (boda) community engagement and working with motorcycle distributors, motorcycle dealers, or EV motorcycle players.

  • Strong ability to understand and manage field operations, sales operations, customer management, and risk control in a fast-growing business.
  • Ability to quickly learn motorcycle finance and hire-purchase business models, and translate them into practical daily operations.
  • Experience in operational reporting, CRM tools, business intelligence platforms, or other data- driven management tools.
