Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
On behalf of our client Namekara Mining Company Ltd, we are looking for 3 competent, skilled, and experienced WELDERS to work in Manafwa, Eastern Uganda.
A mine located in Manafwa District, Eastern Uganda seeks to engage the services of an experienced hands-on Welder who skilfully joins, shapes and modifies metal components from similar and dissimilar metals using different welding methods and techniques, with a reasonable ability to read and interpret blueprints to determine project specifications. He will work with the projects team of fabricators/fitters, welders, assistant fabricators/fitters, assistant welders, and engineers and the project manager. The job and person specifications are provided below.
Job Functions/Key Responsibilities
The incumbent will be required among other things to:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand project specifications.
- Measuring, cutting, and shaping metal components using hand tools, plasma cutters, or metal cutting machines.
iii. Joining metal components through welding, riveting, bolting or other fastening techniques.
- Operating and maintaining welding equipment safely and efficiently, including manual, semi-automatic, or robotic welding systems.
- Use and operate specialized equipment and power tools to weld metal components together e.g., TIG, MIG, stick, and arc welding e.t.c.
- Inspecting welds for defects, ensuring proper penetration, fusion, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
vii. Applying knowledge of metallurgy and material properties to select appropriate welding techniques.
viii. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, housekeeping, safety on machines and adhering to Namekara Mine and other safety protocols.
- Maintaining equipment and work environment, performing regular checks to ensure operational efficiency and safety compliance.
- Collaborating with engineers, project managers and team members to complete projects on schedule.
Performance, Work Requirements & Skills
- Proficiency in multiple welding techniques, MIG , TIG, stick and arc welding.
- Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, stamina, and the ability to work in high-temperature or outdoor environments.
iii. Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks and structure the workday based on deadlines and importance.
- Proficiency with tools and machinery, including welding equipment, specialized machines, and hand tools .
- Attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions accurately
- Ability to work dependently, without direct supervision.
vii. Ability to promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in equipment and to work and communicate well with team members, and other company employees.
viii. Safety minded professional who demonstrates knowledge of safety protocols, use of protective gear, adherence to health and safety regulations, with good performance, regular and timely attendance.
- Ability to conform to and maintain Namekara Mine safety standards and all other company or state rules and regulations.
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment per company standards, adhere to SOPs and take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
- Understanding of workplace accident prevention strategies and the proper use of personal protective equipment(PPE), such as welding hoods and safety goggles.
xii. Accountability for inspection and the safe keeping of tools.
xiii. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
xiv. Aptitude in materials science, engineering, or metallurgy is advantageous.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays as maybe required.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate would have the following attributes and qualifications.
- High school graduation or satisfactory equivalent supplemented by specialized training and previous experience.
- The completion of a recognized apprenticeship or the possession of welding certifications from a professionally recognized institution, vocational or technical and an extensive knowledge of welding methods and techniques is highly desirable.
III. ± 3 years previous experience as a welder.
- Previous experience working in environments similar to mines is preferred.
- Demonstrable knowledge or acquisition of transferable skills and knowledge of welding methods and techniques learned from previous positions .
- Bilingual of which English is one language spoken and written.
VII. Person must be physically fit to perform physically demanding work.
