Stride Development Sacco is one of fast-growing financial institutions in the Rwenzori sub region. The Sacco is located on plot 4-6, Kihika road, Kisanga B cell, Nyamwamba division, Kasese municipality with members coming from the districts of Kasese, Bunyangabu, Rubirizi, Kabarole, Bundibugyo, Kampala among others. The Sacco is in the final stages of establishing new branches to extend services nearer to the members.

JOB TITLE: HEAD OF CREDIT

The Head of Credit will be responsible for managing the entire loan portfolio, ensuring portfolio quality and mitigating risk. Key duties include developing loan policies, assessing member creditworthiness, appraising loan applications, monitoring repayments, and managing portfolio at risk (PAR) to ensure financial sustainability in compliance with the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority and Bank of Uganda regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Credit Administration & Risk Management: Establishing loan policies, procedures, and setting, and adhering to, credit underwriting standards.
• Loan Appraisal & Approval: Reviewing and approving loan applications, evaluating the creditworthiness of members using financial data and collateral.
• Portfolio Management: Monitoring the loan portfolio to maintain a low PAR (Portfolio at Risk) and managing the debt recovery process.
• Compliance: Ensuring compliance with SACCO by-laws and regulations from the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA) and Bank of Uganda.
• Supervision: Leading and training credit officers to ensure efficient customer service and loan appraisal processes.
• Reporting: Preparing regular credit reports for the Board of Directors.

Common Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, or a related field.
• Experience: Proven experience in credit management within a microfinance institution or SACCO.
• Skills: Strong analytical abilities, integrity, customer-centric approach, and knowledge of SACCO product
