TITLE: Country Manager – Uganda

Role Purpose Statement:
Under the general direction and guidance of the TBA, the Country Manager – Uganda is responsible
for establishing, growing, protecting and coordinating Jambojet’s business in Uganda, with
accountability for the country’s commercial performance, cargo sales and development, stakeholder
engagement, local coordination and overall oversight of operational, safety, security, regulatory and
service performance required to make the Entebbe route successful.
As Jambojet’s principal representative in Uganda, the role will drive revenue growth, market
penetration, brand visibility and strategic partnerships while working with internal functional teams
and contracted service providers to support safe, secure, reliable, efficient and cost-effective station
operations, passenger services, ground handling, cargo handling, regulatory alignment, customer
experience and the low-cost carrier business model.
The role is expected to build Jambojet’s presence in the market, strengthen relationships with
regulators, airport authorities, trade partners, corporate customers, tourism bodies, government
stakeholders and other strategic partners, provide timely market intelligence to support route
performance, profitability and future regional growth, and ensure local issues, service-provider
performance and emerging operational or regulatory risks are escalated appropriately.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
1. Commercial Strategy and Route Performance- Develop and execute the Uganda commercial
strategy to achieve passenger revenue, ancillary revenue, market share, load factor, yield and
profitability targets for the Entebbe route.
2. Route Growth and Market Development – Drive route performance by identifying and
implementing initiatives that stimulate demand, support route launch, strengthen market
presence and enable sustainable growth in Uganda.
3. Revenue, Cargo Sales and Channel Development – Identify, develop and secure new revenue
opportunities, including passenger, cargo and ancillary sales, through corporate sales, travel
trade partnerships, government agencies, NGOs, tour operators, strategic accounts and other
relevant channels.
4. Commercial Relationship Management – Build and maintain strong relationships with travel
agents, tour operators, corporate clients, industry partners and other commercial stakeholders
to maximize revenue generation and market penetration.
5. Market Intelligence and Competitive Response – Monitor market trends, competitor activity,
customer behaviour and economic developments, and recommend actions to optimize
commercial performance.
6. Brand Activation and Demand Stimulation – Execute local sales, marketing, promotional and
market activation initiatives to strengthen Jambojet’s brand visibility and stimulate demand.
7. Country Representation and Stakeholder Management – Serve as Jambojet’s principal
representative in Uganda, safeguarding the company’s commercial, operational and reputational
interests while maintaining productive relationships with aviation regulators, airport authorities,
government agencies, tourism bodies, embassies, banks, tax authorities, service providers
appointed by Jambojet to perform statutory and tax filings, and other key stakeholders.
8. Station, Partner, Cargo and Customer Experience Coordination – Coordinate with Operations,
Ground Handling, Customer Experience, Cargo, Revenue Management and other internal teams
to support station and route performance, while overseeing passenger services, ground handling
operations, cargo development and handling, and third-party service providers to ensure
alignment with contractual obligations, operational standards, safety and security requirements
and customer service expectations.
9. Country Governance, People, Financial Controls and Reporting – Lead and develop country-based
employees, manage country budgets, resources, costs, petty cash and any approved cash sales,
ensure proper accounting, reconciliation and reporting of cash collections and petty cash, ensure
compliance with aviation regulations, company policies, statutory requirements and corporate
governance standards, and provide periodic commercial, operational, financial and market
intelligence reports.
Know-how:
a) Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of airline commercial operations, sales management, route
economics, distribution channels, customer relationship management, airport
operations, passenger services, ground handling, cargo sales and handling, safety, security
and aviation regulatory environments.
Knowledge of the low-cost carrier business model, East African aviation market dynamics,
corporate and travel trade sales, market activation and stakeholder management is
essential.
Proficiency in airline reservation, sales, reporting or departure control systems such as
Navitaire, SkyPort and SkySpeed will be an added advantage.
b) Management Skills:
Proven ability to develop and execute commercial plans, manage country-level
performance across commercial, operational, safety, service and stakeholder dimensions,
build stakeholder relationships, lead teams and partners, manage budgets and deliver
results in a dynamic and competitive environment.
Ability to work effectively in a matrix structure, influencing internal teams and external
partners without direct control over all operational functions.
c) Human Relations Skills:
Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills,
with the ability to engage credibly with regulators, airport authorities, government
stakeholders, corporate clients, trade partners, service providers and internal teams.
d) Specialized Knowledge:
Understanding of airline sales and distribution, route development, cargo sales and
development, customer acquisition, market intelligence, commercial reporting,
disruption handling, contracted service-provider oversight and reputational risk
management.
Experience in the Ugandan or wider East African aviation, travel, tourism, NGO, corporate
or government travel market will be an added advantage.

regulatory requirements, airport dependencies, customer expectations, operational
disruptions and the commercial demands of launching and growing a new route.

customer satisfaction, stakeholder expectations, safety, security, operational reliability
and cost discipline while building Jambojet’s presence in a new market.
The role must identify market opportunities, resolve local issues, escalate risks early and
coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders to protect route performance and
brand reputation.

a) Freedom to Act: Operates with considerable autonomy in managing country commercial
activities, cargo sales development, stakeholder engagement, local market development,
partner and service-provider coordination, station performance oversight and country
reporting within approved company policies, delegated authority, commercial strategy and
governance frameworks.
b) Magnitude: Directly impacts Uganda route revenue, cargo sales, ancillary income, market
share, route profitability, customer satisfaction, stakeholder relationships, brand visibility,
station performance and Jambojet’s long-term success in the Ugandan market.
c) Impact of Decisions: Decisions and recommendations affect revenue generation, cargo
growth, sales growth, customer experience, service recovery, stakeholder confidence,
regulatory relationships, operational coordination, safety and security performance, brand
reputation and the sustainability of Jambojet’s operations in Uganda.
Qualifications:
a) Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Commerce, Marketing, Aviation
Management, Economics, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
b) Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in airline, aviation, travel, tourism, hospitality,
commercial operations or market development, with at least 2 years in a sales, country
management, route development, station leadership, business development or
stakeholder-facing leadership role.
Experience in airline commercial operations, travel trade management, corporate sales,
market activation, stakeholder engagement or route performance management will be a
strong advantage.
Experience in the Ugandan or East African market will be an added advantage.
c) Certifications: Professional qualifications in Aviation, IATA, Sales, Marketing, Leadership, or
Business Management will be an added advantage.
