About This Role
The Resource Mobilisation Specialist supports ChildFund’s overall grant acquisition strategy from their strategic location in the Uganda Country Office (CO). The RM Specialist allocates 100 percent of their time to grants acquisition, with a focus on 1) prepositioning and capture of upcoming grant funding opportunities of large monetary or and/or significant programmatic value and 2) the timely preparation of high-quality grant proposals.
The RM Specialist works in close coordination and collaboration with ChildFund’s global Resource Mobilisation and Grants Management teams.
Required Experience And Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in grants acquisition with a focus on international, institutional donors (e.g., USAID, European Union, Global Fund, UN agencies), foundations, and corporations.
- Demonstrated track record of writing and contributing to successful grant proposals in Uganda.
- Demonstrated experience with opportunity sourcing, market intelligence, and desk research is preferred.
- Training certifications on grants acquisition (e.g., Humentum or similar) is preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
- Identify prospective donors and support the CO by engaging with key stakeholders and networks for effective prepositioning (including civil society organizations, INGOs, UN and government agencies).
- Prospect and research opportunities for new grant funding.
- In collaboration with the CO’s Technical team and the Global Resource Mobilization team, participate in capture planning for relevant grant opportunities, including sourcing of local partners, key personnel, and proactive preparation of capacity statements and other relevant documentation.
- Collaborate with regional and CO communications teams to tailor focused messaging and engagement strategies that resonate with different donor audiences.
- Lead the development of competitive grant proposals, engaging technical specialists, human resources, M&E, finance, and other relevant departments to align submissions with donor requirements and integrate expert inputs.
- Participate in preparing and updating the CO’s resource mobilization plan.
- Support with updating the CO’s pipeline of grant opportunities and grant-related records in Salesforce, SharePoint and other databases.
- Apply and remain compliant with the Grants Acquisition Playbook and all Grants Management policies and procedures.
- Support, in collaboration with Program and Finance team members, the submission of operational and financial reports.
- Remain alert and responsive to any safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding Policy.
