OVERVIEW
The HSE Assistant will coordinate all HSE activities in liaison with the Officer to ensure that the company meets the necessary legislative obligations and drives the continuous improvement of a strong HSE culture throughout the business.
KEY DUTIES.
- Assist in Planning and implementing Health, Safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and programs.
- Provide advice to employees on safety-related topics.
- Assist in developing and delivering regular educational and training sessions on HSE topics.
- Collaborate with HR to establish a new employee onboarding process for safety, health, and s
- Assist in conducting risk assessments, identifying potential hazards, and establishing corrective actions.
- Enforce preventative measures and ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
- Prepare and present reports on SIOs, Near-misses, First-aid cases, incidents/accidents, violations, and their causes.
- Ensure that all HSE-related records are entered into the H&S/E&S management systems daily.
- Participate in development and delivery of toolbox talks on a weekly basis.
- Oversee workplace repairs, installations, and any activities that could pose risks to employee safety.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a Diploma in Environmental Management or a related field. Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.
- Certificate in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment would be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in HSE related work.
- Sufficient knowledge of legislations and procedures related to safety, health, and environment.
- Familiarity with potentially hazardous materials and practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to effectively work as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proactive problem-solver that can manage difficult situations with positive results.
