Job Title: Livelihoods Coordinator

Reports to: Programme Coordinator

Watoto is a Christian childcare ministry committed to celebrating Christ and caring for vulnerable children and women in Uganda and South Sudan. Through childcare, education, discipleship, community development, and humanitarian initiatives, Watoto seeks to raise godly transformational leaders and restore hope to vulnerable communities.

Job Purpose.

To coordinate the implementation of livelihood and mentorship programs at centre Level and will equip the mothers with skills, opportunities and guidance to strengthen household resilience and holistic transformation.

Key Responsibility Areas.

  1. Coordinate the implementation of the livelihood strategy.
  2. Conduct community livelihood needs assessments to identify economic opportunities and emerging risks.
  3. Support in the development of the economic empowerment curriculum.
  4. Participate annual livelihood budget plan development, implementation, utilization, accountability, alignment with organizational priorities and compliance with financial policies.
  5. Coordinate participants selection for livelihood interventions as per approved vulnerability criteria.
  6. Identify and link participants to market opportunities, financial literacy, and employment pathways.
  7. Build and strengthen relationships, networks with partners to advance the livelihoods initiatives as well support long term sustainability.
  8. Spearhead compliance with safeguarding, child protection, organisational policies, ethical standards, and operational procedures.
  9. Coordinate private sector engagement and financial institutions for employment, apprenticeship opportunities and affordable financial products.
  10. Identify staff capacity gaps and coordinate training, coaching, performance reviews, mentorship for officers and development initiatives to strengthen delivery.
  11. Build relationships with local leaders, financial institutions, and external stakeholders to support program delivery and coordinate integration of livelihood initiatives.
  12. Identify opportunities for partnerships, funding, or technical support for participants.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience.

  • The applicant for the role should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Work and Social Administration, Sciences, Community Development, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or related
  • A post graduate qualification in a related field is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in livelihoods and household economic strengthening with at least 3 years of experience in team leadership.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and project management.
  • Ability to build relationships with participants, staff, and external stakeholders to enhance program impact.
  • Possess Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting skills.
  • Strong understanding of economic strengthening models.
  • Proven experience in training, mentorship, and monitorship program impact.
  • Possess knowledge of market systems, value chains and income opportunities
  • Proficient in reporting, program documentation, and data tracking.
  • A committed, consistent, and discipled Christian who demonstrates spiritual maturity and active engagement in discipleship, aligned with Watoto values.
