Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) is a member of the International Planned
Parenthood Federation (IPPF), the world’s largest Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
(SRHR) non-governmental organization. RHU’s core mandate is to champion and sustainably
provide training, research evidence, high quality rights based SRHR information and services,
with a special focus to young people.
RHU seeks to recruit highly skilled, experienced and motivated person to fill the following
position
Position: Medical Coordinator (1 Post)
Duty Station: Kampala
Reports to: Service Delivery Manager
Job Role
Coordinate the medical component of the RHU Sexual and Reproductive Health
(SRH)programme and provide technical expertise and oversight for clinical services within
RHU. S/He will be charged with providing supervision, coordination and administer the
provision of quality medical services at RHU Clinics, ensuring compliance to procedures,
regulations, standards, and targets. S/He shall be responsible for developing and updating
clinical protocols, conducting training programs, and ensuring adherence to evidence-based
practices. This role involves collaboration with healthcare professionals, data analysis, and the
incorporation of new research and innovations to enhance clinical services and outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide technical expertise and oversight for clinical services, ensuring adherence to
evidence-based practices and relevant guidelines in sexual reproductive health.
• Develop and manage clinic work plans and budgets.
• Ensure compliance to the set MoH and RHU technical standards, procedures, and
guidelines in the delivery of medical services.
• Conduct routine Training Needs Assessments, develop, and implement training
programs for clinical staff, staying updated on emerging trends and advancements in
reproductive health to enhance the team’s capabilities.
• Develop and update clinical protocols and standard operating procedures, ensuring
consistency and quality in service delivery across all clinic locations.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, program managers, and external partners
to integrate technical knowledge into overall SRHR interventions effectively.
• Establish and monitor quality assurance mechanisms, conducting regular audits to
assess clinical practices, identify areas for improvement, and ensure compliance with
standards.

• Organize routine performance reviews at the clinic and ensure activities at the clinic are
well coordinated and demonstrate results towards set targets.
• Analyze clinical data to identify trends, outcomes, and areas for improvement,
contributing to evidence-based decision-making and reporting.
• Stay abreast of current research and innovations in sexual reproductive health,
incorporating new knowledge and best practices into clinical services.
• Ensure the protection of patient safety, rights, and confidentiality, advocating for a
patient-centric approach within the clinical team.
• Work with RHU clinic staff to plan and implement quality improvement
activities/collaboratives to deliver high-quality SHR continuum of services for
adolescents and adult’s care.
• Support clinic pharmacy and Laboratory staff in forecasting, quantifying, and
requisitioning adequate commodities to support the SRH care and treatment
continuum.
• Ensure timely processing of claims and payments to RHU as a healthcare provider
services rendered under the Insurance health care schemes
• Oversee adherence to standard operating procedures within the Insurance business
operations
• Hold regular stakeholder engagements for sustainable business relationships
• Prepare and submit periodic reports on the clinic services to the Head of Clinical
Services
• Provide input to the Human Resource Unit of RHU to ensure adequate and competent
staff in the clinic.
• Perform any other professional duties assigned by the immediate Supervisor
Knowledge, skills and temperament
Thorough knowledge and skills in providing integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health
services. Skill in training, quality of care assessment, supervision; communication,
including documentation, report writing and feedback. Demonstrated effective

leadership, administration and motivation skills, ability to organize and capacity to multi-
task and deliver accurate and comprehensive results in an efficient and timely manner.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively, with minimum supervision, and willingness to

build, coach, guide task-oriented teams. Competence in program management, cross-
functional collaboration, strategic alignment, clinical management and quality assurance

Financial acumen, resource optimization, sustainability planning and skills in business planning
Capacity to engage Insurance companies at management level, and marketing skills
Training and experience
Master’s Degree in Public Health from an accredited institution, with a valid practicing
license, and registration certificate with at least five years’ experience in Reproductive
Health service delivery training and experience in project planning and management.,
Previous NGO experience in working on SRHR programme. Knowledge of current
medical and clinical protocols and procedures is a must.
