Position Function
To grow and manage the Bank’s Trade Finance portfolio through acquisition of new business, development of existing client relationships, delivery of superior customer service, and maintenance of portfolio quality within acceptable risk parameters. The role is responsible for promoting Trade Finance products across Corporate and SME segments, ensuring timely execution of client transactions, and contributing to the achievement of the Bank’s business growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development and Portfolio Growth
- Drive growth of the Bank’s Trade Finance portfolio through acquisition of new customers and expansion of existing client relationships.
- Generate and grow off-balance sheet Trade Finance business, including Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Standby Letters of Credit, Bills for Collection, and other Trade Finance instruments.
- Achieve assigned Trade Finance loan growth targets through proactive identification and conversion of business opportunities.
- Mobilize Trade Finance-related deposits from Corporate and SME clients to support the Bank’s funding and profitability objectives.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of Trade Finance opportunities to ensure sustainable business growth.
- Acquire and onboard new-to-bank Trade Finance customers within the Corporate and SME segments in line with agreed targets.
Relationship Management
- Manage an assigned portfolio of Trade Finance customers and ensure delivery of exceptional customer service.
- Conduct a minimum of two visits annually to at least 80% of assigned top clients and maintain detailed call reports and customer engagement records.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell Trade Finance and other Bank products to increase customer wallet share and profitability.
- Build strong relationships with key decision-makers and provide advisory support on Trade Finance solutions and market opportunities.
- Ensure customer requests, instructions, disbursements, recoveries, and related Trade Finance transactions are handled within established service level agreements and turnaround times.
Transaction Management and Service Delivery
- Coordinate the processing of Trade Finance transactions and ensure timely execution in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
- Work closely with Operations, Credit, Risk, Compliance, and Branch teams to facilitate efficient transaction processing and customer service delivery.
- Monitor transaction pipelines, maturities, limit utilizations, and due payments to ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
- Ensure all applicable fees, commissions, and charges related to Trade Finance transactions are accurately collected and accounted for.
Risk and Portfolio Management
- Monitor the quality of the assigned Trade Finance portfolio and maintain portfolio performance within approved risk appetite levels.
- Maintain PAR 30+ levels below approved thresholds through proactive monitoring and follow-up of overdue obligations.
- Identify early warning signals and escalate potential credit concerns promptly to mitigate portfolio deterioration.
- Ensure compliance with the Bank’s credit policies, AML/KYC requirements, sanctions screening obligations, and regulatory guidelines governing Trade Finance transactions.
Reporting and Administration
- Prepare and submit Trade Finance reports within agreed service level agreements and not later than 48 hours after reporting deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, transaction pipelines, portfolio performance, and business development activities.
- Provide regular updates on portfolio growth, client acquisition, deposit mobilization, and transaction activity to management.
- Maintain complete and well-documented customer files, visit reports, and relationship records.
Training and Professional Development
- Participate in Trade Finance training programmes, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance technical competence.
- Maintain 100% compliance with mandatory training requirements and successfully complete required assessments and quizzes.
- Support awareness and knowledge-sharing initiatives relating to Trade Finance products and services across the Bank.
Acadmeic & Professional Qualiffications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Professional qualifications in Trade Finance, International Trade, Credit Analysis, or Corporate Banking will be an added advantage.

Experience: 5+ years in relevant financial sector positions;

Technical and Soft Skills:

Minimum of 3 years’ banking experience, preferably in Trade Finance, Corporate Banking, Relationship Management, Business Development, or Credit.

Proven experience in sales, customer relationship management, and portfolio growth.
