Job Summary: The SME Sales Manager will be responsible for developing, executing, and managing strategies to grow and optimise our Small & Medium Enterprise segment. This includes acquisition of high-value customers, product innovation, risk control, and ensuring strong portfolio quality. The ideal candidate will combine sharp commercial acumen with deep market knowledge to deliver aggressive growth while maintaining sound credit discipline.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive acquisition of SME loan clients from private companies, Entreprenuers, Public service institutions and retail business segment.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with employers, car dealers, motor vehicle associations, and industry networks.
  • Design and refine loan products tailored to target segments, ensuring competitive pricing, features, and turnaround time.
  • Develop marketing campaigns and sales activation plans to boost uptake.
  • Implement strong credit assessment criteria and early warning systems to maintain portfolio health.
  • Collaborate with the Risk & Collections teams to ensure proactive delinquency management.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a network of loan officers and relationship managers to achieve monthly acquisition and disbursement targets.
  • Introduce performance-based incentives and monitoring dashboards to enhance productivity.
  • Track industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to guide product positioning.
  • Ensure smooth, efficient, and customer-friendly loan origination processes.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or related field from a recognised Institution
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in retail lending, preferably with a focus on SME Lending.
  • Proven track record in product growth, sales leadership, and portfolio management.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, especially with institutional clients and employers.
  • Analytical, target-driven, and comfortable with high-performance environments.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a commercial growth orientation.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team motivation skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Sound understanding of credit risk principles and compliance requirements.
