About Basket Payroll
Basket Payroll is a workforce payments and financial inclusion platform bringing Uganda’s casual and informal
workforce into the formal economy. We enable companies employing large numbers of casual workers to digitize
worker registration, payroll management, cash payouts, savings, and financial services.
Our clients include manufacturers, manpower companies, agribusinesses, plantations, distributors, processors, and
other employers with large casual workforces. We are building the infrastructure that will transform how millions of
workers across Africa are paid, save, and access financial services.
The Opportunity
As a Field Agent – Onboarding & Training, you will be the face of Basket Payroll on the ground. You will identify,
onboard, train, and support companies employing casual workers while building relationships with local
stakeholders and worker communities.
This is a highly hands-on role requiring extensive field travel, community mobilization, client training, and
operational execution. You must be equally comfortable engaging company directors in boardrooms and mobilizing
casual workers in factories, farms, estates, and industrial zones.
This role offers a clear career path. High-performing Field Agents will have the opportunity to grow into Field
Supervisors within 60 days, recruit and manage additional field agents, and build regional deployment teams across
Uganda.
Key Responsibilities

Client Acquisition & Onboarding
Identify and onboard manufacturers, manpower companies, agribusinesses, plantations, distributors, and other
employers of casual labour.
Conduct client visits and presentations explaining the Basket Payroll platform.
Configure client accounts, branches, agents, supervisors, and worker profiles.
Support clients through their first successful payroll and payout cycles.
Training & Deployment
Train company administrators, supervisors, field agents, and workers on the Basket Payroll platform.
Conduct practical onboarding sessions covering: Worker registration; Uploading worker data; Agent
assignment; Worker verification; Payroll processing; Cash payouts; Reporting and reconciliation.
Support pilot deployments and troubleshoot operational challenges during initial rollouts.

Community Mobilization & Stakeholder Engagement
Mobilize workers and employers in sectors with large casual workforces.
Build strong working relationships with: District Labour Officers; Officials within the Ministry of Gender, Labour
and Social Development structures; Labour officers and local government officials; Trade unions and workers’
associations; SACCO leaders and cooperative leaders; Community organizations; Estate managers, factory
managers, labour contractors, and manpower agencies.
Organize sensitization meetings, registration drives, and worker onboarding activities.
Field Operations
Support live payout operations and resolve issues in real time.
Monitor operational quality and ensure compliance with procedures.
Submit regular field reports and provide market intelligence.
Gather client and worker feedback to improve the Basket Payroll platform.
Drive adoption and convert pilot deployments into long-term active clients.
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Agriculture, Community Development, Human
Resources, Marketing, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in field operations, sales, training, workforce management, community
mobilization, or client onboarding.
Proven experience working with casual labourers or large field-based workforces.
Required Experience & Skills

Industry Experience
Experience in one or more of the following sectors is highly desirable:
Agriculture (tea, coffee, cocoa, grains, sugar, horticulture, plantations, outgrower schemes);
Manufacturing and industrial processing;
Distribution and logistics;
Construction and infrastructure;
Labour outsourcing and manpower services;
Agribusiness and rural value chains.
Technical Skills
Must own a personal laptop.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet management.
Comfortable using smartphones, digital platforms, and mobile applications.
Ability to quickly learn and train others on software platforms.

Field Competencies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong training and facilitation skills.
Ability to mobilize and work with large groups of people.
Strong stakeholder management capabilities.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work under intense pressure and strict operational deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills and resilience.
Knowledge of Uganda
Good knowledge of Uganda’s casual labour ecosystem.
Understanding of major agricultural, manufacturing, industrial, and distribution regions.
Familiarity with areas employing large numbers of casual workers is a strong advantage.
Transport Requirements
A valid motorcycle riding licence and/or driving licence is mandatory.
Extensive travel across Uganda is required.
Ownership of a personal motorcycle is an added advantage.
Languages
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of Luganda and other local languages is a strong advantage.
