Job Title: Key Account Manager – Education, Health & Media

Reporting to: Senior Manager – Enterprise Sales

Division – Commercial Operations

 

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job 

To drive sustainable revenue growth, customer acquisition, and strategic partnerships within the Education, Health and Media sectors by developing sector-specific growth strategies, managing strategic customer relationships, expanding adoption of MTN Mobile Money solutions, and delivering exceptional customer value. The role is responsible for increasing market share, growing customer wallet share, accelerating digital payment adoption, and positioning MTN Mobile Money as the preferred digital financial services partner across educational institutions, healthcare providers, and media organizations.

Main Job Functions:

Key Deliverables

1. Sector Strategy and Business Development

  • Develop and execute sector growth strategies for Education, Health and Media aligned to MTN Mobile Money’s commercial objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within universities, tertiary institutions, schools, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, healthcare networks, media houses, broadcasters, publishers and digital media organizations.
  • Build and execute strategic account plans for high-value customers.
  • Identify, qualify and acquire new enterprise customers and strategic partnerships.
  • Position MTN Mobile Money solutions as enablers of digital transformation, financial inclusion and operational efficiency across the assigned sectors.

 

2. Revenue Growth and Share of Wallet Expansion

 

  • Deliver revenue, transaction value and profitability targets for the assigned portfolio.
  • Increase customer value through expanded adoption of MTN Mobile Money products and enterprise payment solutions.
  • Grow share of wallet through cross-selling and upselling of:
    • Enterprise Collections
    • Enterprise Bulk Payments
    • Merchant Payments
    • API Integrations
    • Loans & Savings Solutions
    • Digital Wallet Solutions
    • Ticketing and Subscription Payment Solutions
    • Salary and Supplier Payments
    • Identify new revenue opportunities within existing and prospective customers.

 

3. Customer Relationship Management, Retention and Advocacy

 

  • Build executive-level relationships with Vice Chancellors, University Secretaries, School Proprietors, Hospital Administrators, Chief Executive Officers, Finance Directors, ICT Directors, Procurement Managers, Media Executives and other key decision-makers.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with strategic accounts.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experience and service excellence.
  • Improve customer retention through proactive account management.
  • Coordinate internal resources to resolve customer issues efficiently.
  • Develop customer advocates and reference accounts.

 

4. New Product Adoption and Portfolio Penetration

 

  • Drive adoption of new and existing MTN Mobile Money products across assigned customers.
  • Identify opportunities to digitize payment ecosystems within educational institutions, healthcare providers and media organizations.
  • Increase transaction volumes, payment digitization and customer utilization.
  • Support customer onboarding, implementation, user training and change management initiatives.
  • Monitor product adoption and recommend strategies to increase utilization and customer value.

     

 

5. Stakeholder and Ecosystem Management

 

Develop and maintain strategic relationships with:

6. Sales Performance and People Leadership

  • Deliver assigned sales and commercial targets.
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through disciplined opportunity management.
  • Accurately forecast revenue and pipeline performance.
  • Coach and mentor junior sales colleagues where applicable.
  • Promote a high-performance, customer-centric and collaborative culture.
  • Ensure CRM accuracy and compliance with sales governance processes.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Commerce, Economics, Marketing, Finance, ICT or a related field.
  • A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.

     

    Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in Enterprise Sales, Key Account Management, Business Development or Relationship Management.
